The best enquiry is a specific one. The more clearly you describe what you're looking for, the better we can match you to the right boat and departure.
We read every enquiry at the desk here in Luxor. There's no automated system filtering your message — a member of the planning team reviews it and composes a reply based on actual knowledge of the current fleets, cabin availability and seasonal conditions on the river. That takes a little more time than an instant chatbot, but the answer you get is grounded in what's actually on the water this year.
Our office hours are Saturday through Thursday, 09:00 to 18:00 Luxor local time (UTC+2, no daylight saving adjustment). Enquiries received outside those hours or on Fridays are picked up on the next working morning. In nearly all cases you'll have a substantive reply — not a holding acknowledgement — within one working day.
What to tell us
Three pieces of information make the biggest difference to how precisely we can help:
Travel dates and flexibility. Approximate dates are fine if they're not fixed. Tell us whether you have a hard departure constraint at either end, since this affects which vessels and directions are viable. A dahabiya charter that sails on fixed days each week may or may not align with your flight schedule, and we'll say so clearly.
Party size and composition. A couple travelling without children has a different shortlist from a family of five with an eight-year-old, or a group of twelve wanting a private charter. If any member of the party has a mobility consideration that affects cabin access or gangway steps, mention it — a handful of vessels have much better arrangements than others.
Boat preference or openness. If you've already decided you want a dahabiya and nothing else, say so. If you're genuinely undecided between a small sailing boat and a mid-size cruiser, tell us that too and we'll lay out the trade-offs for your specific dates and budget. Our physical address for correspondence is 5 Khaled Ibn El Walid Street, Luxor 85951, Egypt. We don't receive walk-in visitors at this address; all planning work is handled remotely by correspondence and call.
After we reply
Our first reply includes a shortlist — usually two to four options — with the name of the vessel, the departure dates that match your window, a fair price range for the cabin type you'd want, and a plain-language note on what each voyage includes and what's extra. We'll flag anything unusual: vessels that require joining a flotilla, routes that include the Esna lock transit which some travellers find interesting and others find slow, or dahabiyas that are genuinely exceptional value in the season you're travelling. From that shortlist you can ask follow-up questions, request a more detailed comparison, or go ahead and book through the operator — with our contact there to smooth the introduction. Questions we're often asked first
The initial enquiry and the shortlist we send back are free of charge. If you want a deeper research service — comparing a larger number of vessels, arranging hotel nights alongside the cruise, or coordinating a multi-leg Egypt itinerary — that falls under our Full Trip Plan, which is a paid service. Yes. Approximate dates or a month range work fine for an initial reply. Availability tightens closer to peak season (November through February), so the earlier you enquire, even with flexible dates, the more options we can honestly present. If you know you want to travel "some time in October" we can tell you which vessels and departure days are realistically available and what the booking lead times are. We can advise on which excursions are included in which cruise package and recommend which optional excursions are worth the extra cost at each temple stop. We don't book excursions separately from the cruise, but we make sure you know what's covered before any money changes hands. Yes, groups of that size are well suited to a private dahabiya charter or a block of cabins on a larger cruiser. A dahabiya with ten to twelve cabins can accommodate your group as a private sailing, giving you total flexibility over the departure day, mooring stops and onboard meals.
